Marketing is an important investment for any business. It’s too important to waste time and money working with people who are not experts.
Chris’ marketing journey began at University, where a fresh faced student started his Marketing degree. While he was there and in between studying (and drinking, playing football and general mis-behaviour), Chris got his first marketing role – working for Virgin D3. The role involved raising brand awareness for many leading brands, including Hewlett Packard, Diageo, Virgin Mobile, Siemens, Intel and more, by adopting point-of-sale promotions.
Three years later and with a degree secured, Chris secured his first marketing position at Sterling SIHI industrial pump specialists. Working there for over three years gaining valuable operational marketing experience and construction industry knowledge.
A short career-break followed with an adventure around Australia (and Singapore), where he discovered a love for barbeques, a laid-back and friendly atmosphere, amazing sights and culture…and also the fact you could buy a box of wine for $4 (called goon).
Chris returned from Oz and got a job for international glass hardware specialists C.R. Laurence of Europe Ltd. He was interviewed by Chris P (who he thought had a striking resemblance to Jason Statham and Harry Hill) and from there the relationship blossomed. The Chris’ worked together marketing CRL to glaziers, installers, glass shops as well as the specification route to contractors and architects. They also introduced Caesarstone to the UK market targeting kitchen showrooms, fabricators, specifiers, architects and interior designers.
Chris left CRL in early 2015 to freelance where he worked with many leading construction companies and building product manufacturers helping them with specification strategies, CPD events and lead generation.
Then he joined forces with Mr P late 2015 where Time54 was born, helping brands within the Buildings and Interiors markets generate leads and raise awareness. In the end of 2017 he was appointed Construction Sector Ambassador for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, helping to promote marketing best practices within the Construction sector.
Chris Pepper started his working life after University with a full head of hair and a bucket full of ambition at a family run Mechanical & Electrical contractors in Leeds. It was to be is first marketing role within the Building and Interior industries. Fast forward ten years and considerably less hair and Chris has developed his knowledge and experience having headed up the marketing departments for Lindapter steelwork fixings and Fullflow, syphonic drainage experts. In the summer of 2009 Chris joined Ebor, glass and stone tools and machinery specialists, a business soon to become C.R. Laurence of Europe (CRL).
It was at the global glass hardware specialist that Chris met Mr Ashton and their friendship was formed! CRL went from strength to strength in the seven plus years Chris ran the European marketing department. Central to the company’s product offering was the depth of glass hardware and tool solutions and the quartz worksurface brand Caesarstone.
Chris gained a great knowledge and understanding of the glass industry, from specification sales targeting Architects, right through to site with glass shops and installers. Also building up an extensive network of contacts and experience within the KBB and Interiors industries having successfully marketed the design led brand Caesarstone in the UK from 2009 to the end of 2015.
Well-armed with over 17 years of experience marketing industry leading businesses Chris followed his long-term ambition of running a specialist marketing agency he took the plunge at the end of 2015 and set up Time54 with Chris Ashton, with the clear objective of providing no nonsense marketing solutions for the Building and Interior industries. Time54 was born…
